Groom your pet Bathe your dog regularly. This is the most important thing you can do to prevent ticks and fleas, as well as other parasites. If you bathe your pet regularly, the dirt that builds up on its fur will be easy to wipe away with a towel or grooming brush before it has time to settle into a hidey-hole for ticks and fleas to live in.
